Service Description
This study group is designed for students in grades 9–12 who are looking to strengthen their understanding of history, stay on top of coursework, and prepare for exams. It offers a structured yet collaborative environment where students can review content, complete assignments, and develop higher-level thinking skills with guidance from an experienced educator. WHAT WE FOCUS ON • Core topics in World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics • Analysis of historical events, cause and effect, and long-term impacts • Primary and secondary source evaluation • Essay writing, DBQs (Document-Based Questions), and short responses • Study strategies, organization, and time management • Test preparation for unit exams, finals, and state assessments GOALS & OUTCOMES Students who participate will: • Strengthen understanding of high school history standards • Improve critical thinking, analysis, and argument-writing skills • Gain confidence in discussing and writing about complex historical topics • Develop effective study habits and independent learning skills • Show measurable improvement in grades, assignments, and assessments WHO CAN JOIN Open to students in grades 9–12 who want additional support in history—whether they need help keeping up with coursework, preparing for exams, or aiming for higher academic performance. This group is also beneficial for students enrolled in honors or advanced-level history courses.
