Service Description

The NYS Algebra I Study Group is designed for high school students who are currently enrolled in Algebra I, preparing to take the New York State Algebra I Regents Exam, or looking to strengthen their understanding of key algebra concepts. This collaborative, supportive study group provides guided instruction, problem-solving practice, and opportunities for students to build confidence alongside their peers. Throughout the program, students will review the major topics covered on the NYS Algebra I curriculum, including: * Linear equations and inequalities * Functions and graphing * Systems of equations * Exponential functions * Polynomials and factoring * Quadratic equations and functions * Algebraic modeling and real-world applications * Regents-style multiple-choice and constructed-response questions * Test-taking strategies and effective problem-solving techniques The primary learning objectives are to help students: * Develop a strong conceptual understanding of Algebra I concepts. * Improve accuracy and efficiency when solving algebraic problems. * Build confidence in applying mathematical reasoning to unfamiliar questions. * Master the skills and strategies needed to succeed on the NYS Algebra I Regents Exam. * Identify and address individual areas of weakness through guided practice and review.
