Elbert Garcia

Social Studies

Born and raised in Washington Heights, Elbert Garcia has spent the last two decades working to lift up community voices and experiences, especially those of people of color and immigrants.


Garcia's career has included has included work for alternative and mainstream media outlets like the New York Times, serving as senior press officer for elected officials like Rep. Charles B. Rangel, and providing strategic communications consulting to social justice movement groups in Florida. He most recently served as the Director of Strategic Communications at the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP), a DC-based advocacy organization dedicated to challenging grant-makers to be transparent with, and accountable to, the communities we serve.


The proud father and husband is a first generation Dominican-American alumnus of the Prep for Prep and National Urban Fellows programs.
