Dr. Dennis Huffington

Dennis Huffington, Ph.D. is a dedicated educator, scholar, and advocate for responsive education and well-being in K-12 schools and higher education. Dennis has been a public educator for over 18 years in Missouri, Arizona, and privately in China.


Dr. Huffington served as a mentor to a first year Teach for America cohort in the St. Louis Public Schools, for the Hazelwood School District’s Teacher Induction Program, and as an Expanded Impact Teacher to reach associates through Public Impact’s Opportunity Culture initiative and teacher-leader with Maricopa County Regional School District. He has also trained interns In Arizona State University’s tutoring program for adjudicated juveniles, which led to an invitation to share experiences teaching in a secured care facility with undergraduates at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He has been a resource for Washington University in St. Louis’s Summer Science Outreach and Variety-The Children’s Charity of St. Louis for children with developmental disabilities.


Dr. Huffington has published Trauma 101: An Introduction to Trauma-Informed Approaches to Education and Related Topics, is lead author for Assessing Accessibility: Universal Design for University Websites, published in Disability Compliance for Higher Education and Dean and Provost, and professional development modules for CAREClassroom.org. Dr. Huffington is also a proud civil servant, serving as a 2020 Census Enumerator, Maricopa County Elections Judge, Marshal, and Clerk, and Peak Casual Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service.
